The Quality Assurance System for Higher Education in Zambia is premised on the provisions of the Higher Education Act No. 4 of 2013. Specifically, the Higher Education Act No. 4 of 2013 provides for:

  • The establishment of the Higher Education Authority and to define its functions and powers,
  • Quality Assurance and Quality Promotion in Higher Education,
  • The establishment, governance and regulation of Public Higher Education Institutions,
  • The Registration and Regulation of Private Higher Education Institutions,
  • The repeal and replacement of the University Act, 1999, and
  • Matters connected with, or incidental to, the foregoing.

In accordance with the Part II, Section 6 of the Higher Education Act No. 4 of 2013, the Higher Education Authority has provided the Quality Assurance System for Higher Education in Zambia, which is in three Parts:

  • Part I   :   Registration of Private Higher Education Institutions
  • Part II : Classification of Higher Education Institutions
  • Part III : Accreditation of Higher Education Programmes
  • Part IV : Application Forms
  • Part V : Structure of Fees

This document outlines details of this Quality Assurance System for the Higher Education System in Zambia. The Quality Assurance System provides for the Registration of Private Higher Education Institutions, the Classification of Higher Education Institutions and the Accreditation of Higher Education Learning Programmes.
