SPEAKER SPOTLIGHT: Mr. Mayondi on Strengthening Zambia’s Legal Education for Development
Mr. Fabian Mayondi, Director and Chief Executive Officer of the Zambia Institute of Advanced Legal Education (ZIALE), will present on “From Status to Strategy: Strengthening Legal Training for National Development.” As head of Zambia’s premier professional law training institution, Mr. Mayondi’s leadership sits at the heart of shaping legal education, professional ethics, and governance reforms. His participation at the Indaba underscores the critical link between strong legal institutions and sustainable national development.
With his wide-ranging experience in legal practice, academia, and institutional governance, Mr. Mayondi brings an authoritative perspective on how Zambia can build a legal education system that not only prepares skilled practitioners but also strengthens justice, accountability, and the rule of law. The inaugural Higher Education Indaba will be held from 8th to 10th October, 2025, at the Avani Victoria Falls Resort in Livingstone, under the theme “Unlocking Zambia’s Potential Through New Investments in Quality Higher Education.”
Hosted by the Higher Education Authority (HEA) in close collaboration with the Ministry of Education, the Indaba will convene over 400 leaders from Higher Education Institutions (HEIs), industry, cooperating partners, civil society, and other strategic stakeholders.

Mr Fabian Mayondi is a distinguished professional in the field of law and education, currently serving as the Director and Chief Executive Officer at the Zambia Institute of Advanced Legal Education (ZIALE). His role involves providing visionary leadership, upholding excellence in legal education, and steering institutional transformation.

- Director and Chief Executive Officer, ZIALE: responsible for shaping the future of the legal profession in Zambia through bar admission training, policy development, stakeholder engagement, and governance reform.
- Director, Legal Studies – National Institute for Public Administration, responsible for overseeing legal studies and contributing to public administration.
- Lecturer, National Institute for Public Administration (NIPA) and Zambia Institute for Accountancy Studies (ZCAS).
- Board Member, Governing Council, University of Zambia: Mr Fabian Mayondi plays a crucial role in governing the university.
- Chairperson, Finance and Investment Committee: overseeing financial management and investment strategies for the University of Zambia.
- Board Chairperson, Mulungushi Village Complex Limited: Since 2023, leads the board, guiding the company’s strategic direction.
