“Enhancing HEA and UNZA’s Relationship will Produce Graduates that Contributes to National Development” – UNZASU President
University of Zambia Students’ Union (UNZASU) President, Mr. Dixon Mutambo, has said that enhancing the relationship between the Higher Education Authority (HEA) and the University of Zambia (UNZA) will help the university continue producing people that are going to add and contribute to the development of this country.

Mr. Mutambo added that the only way that could happen is by UNZA receiving a quality education from the university through sharing a good relationship with HEA.
“As I’m seated here talking to you, I’m representing over 30,000 students coming from the University of Zambia,” he said, continuing, “When we have a good relationship (with HEA), it would be very easy for us to make a phone call, to take a walk to this office and say, ‘Our father, the Director-General, we as an institution are facing this and that.”
The President further extoled the importance of education by echoing the sentiments for the founding of UNZA by the First Republican President, Dr. Kenneth David Kaunda.
“UNZA has been long-standing since 1967, founded by our country’s Founding Father, His Excellency, the First Republican President, the late, Dr. Kenneth David Kaunda – May His Soul Continue Resting in Eternal Peace,” Mr. Mutambo said, adding, “He had a vision that education would lead to the development of this country. And for that fact, he made sure that education was taken seriously.”
Mr. Mutambo added that the seriousness with which UNZA taken the charge from the Founding President of Zambia has lead Zambia’s oldest and largest university to produce significant figures in society today.
“UNZA has produced 3 Republican Presidents, including the Incumbent President, His Excellency, Mr. Hakainde Hichilema, the current Chief Justice, Mr. Mumba Malila, and also, the person sitting on my right-hand side, Professor Chinsembu,” Mr. Mutambo said, concluding in jest, “And as we always say, ‘once a monk, always a monk.”
