EIZ Discusses Learning Programme Accreditation with HEA

The Higher Education Authority (HEA) was visited by the Engineering Institution of Zambia (EIZ) on the proposed membership of the institution to the International Engineering Alliance (IEA) and accreditation of learning programmes.

EIZ has embarked on the process of attaining full membership of the IEA, a global not-for-profit organisation, which comprises members from 41 jurisdictions within 29 countries, across seven international agreements. Through the Educational Accords and Competence Agreements members of the IEA establish and enforce internationally bench-marked standards for engineering education and expected competence for engineering practice.

HEA Acting Director-General, Dr. Martin Mushumba met the delegation from EIZ which was led by Engineer Eugene Haazele, the immediate Past President of the Institution.

The discussion between the two institutions was fruitful and would lead to more meetings in order to facilitate, within the provisions of the Law, the requirements by the IEA for EIZ to have full membership to the IEA.
