Unicaf University Chancellor Pays Courtesy Call on DG
Unicaf University Chancellor, Prof. Mpazi Sinjela, paid a courtesy call on the Higher Education Authority’s (HEA) Director-General, Prof. Stephen Simukanga.
Speaking during the meeting, Prof. Sinjela praised HEA for the versatility with which it regulates the higher education subsector, approaching each Higher Education Institution (HEI) as its own entity.
“Your work (as HEA) is not a straitjacket but it fits every institution, as different institutions have different models which they apply in their provision of higher education,” Prof. Sinjela said.
Prof. Sinjela, who became Unicaf University’s first Chancellor earlier this year, praised HEA for accommodating the HEI when it was one of the first foreign HEIs to operate in Zambia and provide a model that was entirely online.
“With our university’s virtual learning methodology, our model takes education wherever the people are instead of them coming to a fixed place to get that education,” the Chancellor said, adding, “this is why Unicaf never closed during the COVID-19 pandemic because we are in cyberspace.”
Prof. Sinjela, on behalf of Unicaf University’s Vice-Chancellor, Dr. Christine Mushibwe, thanked the Director-General and HEA Management for the warm reception they received, adding that he was looking forward to working with HEA in his new capacity as Chancellor.
