IN PICTURES: Winter School Opens as HEA Takes Quality Assurance into the AI Era

The Higher Education Authority (HEA) last week officially opened the 2026 Winter School Capacity Building Workshop for Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) at Chrismar Hotel in Livingstone.

The three (3)-day workshop, held from 15^th to 17^th July, 2026, ran under the theme, “Strengthening higher education curriculum quality through quality assurance in the era of digital transformation and artificial intelligence.”

The opening day brought together higher education leaders, quality assurance practitioners and experts for a practical conversation on curriculum quality, digital transformation, responsible use of artificial intelligence, and the future of higher education in Zambia.

The workshop was officially opened by HEA Director-General, Professor Kazhila C. Chinsembu, and featured remarks by Dr. Martin Mushumba, Director – Quality Assurance, as well as a keynote presentation by Eng. Elton Sixpence, Collaborator and Trainer at ENH Training, South Africa.
