HEIs End QAMIS Training with Strong Vote of Confidence

The successful conclusion of the Higher Education Authority’s (HEA) five (5)-day training on the Quality Assurance Management Information System (QAMIS) was marked not just by technical understanding, but by a clear message from Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) themselves that they are ready.

Speaking on behalf of participants, Mrs. Naomi Mukubesa, Senior Lecturer and Dean of Students at Gideon Robert University, delivered a vote of thanks that captured the collective sentiment of the HEIs present, which was of appreciation, confidence and commitment to apply what had been learned.

In her remarks, Mrs. Mukubesa expressed gratitude to HEA for organising what she described as an insightful and timely training on the new online accreditation system.

She paid tribute to the facilitators for their clarity, patience and hands-on guidance, noting that the knowledge and skills gained would significantly improve how institutions manage accreditation processes.

“The introduction of the online accreditation system marks a significant step forward in strengthening transparency, accountability and efficiency in higher education management,” she said.

Beyond the system itself, her message reflected something deeper, that of ownership.

Mrs. Mukubesa thanked participants for their active engagement and meaningful contributions throughout the workshop, highlighting that the value of the training was not only in what was taught, but in how institutions interacted, questioned and learned together.

She also recognised the technical teams and support staff whose behind-the-scenes efforts ensured the smooth delivery of the training.

As the workshop drew to a close, her message was clear and forward-looking, noting that the knowledge gained would not remain in the room but would be taken back, applied and translated into stronger systems, better processes and ultimately, better higher education outcomes across institutions.

The vote of thanks was an acknowledgement from the HEIs themselves that they were ready and when institutions themselves say that they are ready, that is when the system has already begun to work.

The training, held from Monday, 23rd to Friday, 27th March, 2026, at Sandy’s Creation Resort in Chilanga, brought together two participants each from 50 HEIs, specifically from Quality Assurance and Information Technology units as the primary users of the system. QAMIS was developed by the SMART Zambia Institute in collaboration with the HEA development team led by Mr. Francis Kawesha, Senior Information Technology Officer, with Mr. Boyd Banda, Principal Systems Developer, representing SMART Zambia at the workshop.
