DG Explains Why HEA has Deregistered 11 HEIs since 2018

The Higher Education Authority (HEA) has, since 2018, deregistered 11 Higher Education Institutions (HEIs).

In this week’s video highlight, the Director-General, Professor Stephen Simukanga, names and explains why HEA deregistered these particular HEIs in accordance with the provisions of the Higher Education Act No. 4 of 2013. His explanation comes with a caution to the general public.

The Higher Education Authority (HEA), through its inspections of Higher Education Institutions (HEIs), periodically deregisters these HEIs in accordance with the provisions of the Higher Education Act No. 4 of 2021.

In HEA’s video highlight of the week, HEA Director-General, Professor Stephen Simukanga, sat down with the Authority’s Corporate Communications Unit and explained how the Authority determines which HEIs are primed for deregistration.
