Chinsembu, has reiterated the Authorityโ€™s commitment to safeguarding the quality, relevance and competitiveness of higher education in Zambia.

Speaking during a radio interview with Hot FM on some of the most topical issues affecting the sector, the Director-General, highlighted that artificial intelligence (AI) is redefining the future of education. He stressed that while AI offers vast opportunities for innovation, research efficiency and improved critical thinking, institutions must promote responsible and ethical usage.

โ€œAI is here and it will redefine how we deliver education. We encourage its use but in ways that enhance skills not substitute critical thinking or lead to plagiarism,โ€ he said.

The Director-General also acknowledged challenges of overcrowding in lecture theatres in some Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) due to increased access following the free education policy. He emphasized that while infrastructure expansion is crucial, institutions should adopt blended learning models that combine physical and digital platforms.

Professor Chinsembu noted that despite existing challenges, Zambia remains globally competitive, pointing to graduates excelling in universities across the world.
