HEA Launches Strategic Plan

The Higher Education Authority (HEA) launched its 2018 – 2021 Strategic Plan that sets out an operational framework to execute its mandate from 2018 to 2021.

The Plan outlines the vision, mission, strategic objectives and key result areas. The Strategic Plan will enable the Authority to be practical and responsive to the dynamics in the environment, as well as, to build confidence and trust among its stakeholders in
discharging its mandate.

HEA launched the Strategic Plan at an event that was graced by the Honourable Minister of Higher Education, Professor Nkandu Luo, MP.

Speaking during the launch, HEA Director General, Professor Stephen Simukanga, stressed that the Strategic Plan provides a strategic pathway that will allow the Authority to achieve the important mandate that has been bestowed on it by the Zambian people.

“In the next four (4) years, the Authority commits itself to pursuing six (6) strategic objectives that have been associated with intended results, measures, targets and strategies,” Professor Simukanga said.

The Director General further stated that the 6 strategic objectives have committed the Authority to ensuring quality service delivery, the production of internationally recognised graduates, and having satisfied clients.

Professor Simukanga thanked everyone that contributed to the successful development of the Strategic Plan.

“In particular, I wish to pay tribute to the Management Development Division of Cabinet Office for technical guidance and facilitating the development of the plan,” he said.

During the Launch, a moment of silence was held for Mrs. Priscilla Musole-Mulenga who worked as a Specialist – Strategic Planning during the development of the Strategic Plan. Mrs. Musole-Mulenga passed away in February.

The Director General further thanked the Ministry of Higher Education for their policy guidance and technical support, and all representatives of various organisations that provided valuable input during the strategic planning process.

“(I wish to thank) the Management and Staff of the Higher Education Authority for being steadfast in the development of this Strategic Plan,” he concluded.
