The Higher Education Authority (HEA) introduced its online accreditation platform to the 42 Programme Accreditation Evaluators it oriented at a workshop last week on Friday at Mulungushi International Conference Centre in Lusaka.
In its drive to digitise both the registration and accreditation processes to make them faster and more convenient, with the applicant being able to follow at which stage of the registration or accreditation process their application is, HEA has developed an Integrated Management Information System (IMIS) as its solution.
Speaking during the presentation of the platform, HEA Senior IT Officer, Mr. Francis Kawesha, stated that the IMIS will be running before the end of the year and it will allow the Programme Accreditation Evaluators access to completely evaluate and submit their conclusions online.
“We have currently developed 3 modules, namely, the Registration Module, the Accreditation Module, and the Human Resource Management Module, with the Expert Module being a Submodule of the Accreditation Module,” he said.
The apt timing of the IMIS will compound to the Authority’s response to COVID-19 by ensuring that its processes continue but in a much safer and much more digital way as has been directed by the President of the Republic of Zambia.
Thus, the twofold benefits will be such that HEA will continue “Ensuring Quality in Higher Education” in the safest manner for its staff and clients, whilst ensuring efficiency in the application process for its clientele.
