Professor Luo said that having a large number of board members causes financial strain on the learning institutions.
She was speaking when she addressed management and staff at Solwezi Trades Training Institute on Friday, 5th May, 2017.
“I have requested not only for colleges but also (public) universities to reduce the number of people on the boards. So, my view is that we should reduce the number of board members,” Professor Luo said.
“And I will tell you the reasons; board members don’t just sit, they are paid an allowance. So if you have a lot of board members, it means the resources that will be lost from your institutions are also going to increase,” she said.
