The Higher Education Authority (HEA) has launched social media platforms in its continued efforts to foster convenient interactions with its stakeholders.
The social platforms that have been launched include Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, YouTube and LinkedIn, with Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn highly active as the Authority expands on YouTube and Twitter.
The liberalisation in the provision of higher education in Zambia has led to an exponential increase in the number of HEIs in the country. Thus, the role of the HEA, as pronounced by The Higher Education Act No. 4 of 2013, has thrust the organisation dead-centre in the importance of the information made digitally available to the public.
Moreover, since information is largely accessed through the internet, with ZICTA showing that, in 2016, Zambia, as a country, had 6.1 million internet users, representing a penetration rate of 39%, the Authority knows the significance of having a large presence online and it hopes that the inclusion of social media platforms will allow its stakeholders to better get information on higher education in Zambia.
The HEA further intends to launch a Blog and a Newsletter in the coming few days.
Don’t forget to join the conversation @HEAZambia on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, YouTube and LinkedIn.
