The Permanent Secretary said that the infrastructure at Ntumpa was meant to be a secondary school but government has decided to turn it into a university to improve access to tertiary education.
Dr. Kalumba said this follows numerous appeals from people of Northern Province for a university.
He said the construction of the university will start immediately because the existing infrastructure is already at 80 per cent.
Dr Kalumba disclosed the university will focus on providing agriculture science.
He said the opening of the university will create economic development as a lot of facilities will be provided in the area
And a resident of Ntumpa area Geoffrey Sampa is delighted with the development saying the university will help people in the locality and beyond to obtain higher education.
